Mom Used 10-Year-Old As Designated Driver
Last year, 33-year-old Audrey Willoughby of Port St. Lucie, Florida didn’t want to drive drunk. That’s admirable. But she decided to avoid committing that crime by committing another crime that could be considered much worse.
Audrey had her 10-year-old daughter drive.
Audrey reportedly told Port St. Lucie police that her boyfriend, 39year-old was giving the girl a driving lesson in the Toyota Corolla.
Audrey’s 10-year-old wasn’t a great driver: She crashed the Toyota Corolla into three parked cars, which made her panic, hit the gas and ram the car into a house.
Her boyfriend, who had a bloody hand when interviewed by authorities, said he’d had two beers and that his driver’s license was suspended. Audrey told police she didn’t think Green was drunk.
Audrey’s eight-year-old boy was in there too. Amazingly, no one was hurt.
This week, Audrey pleaded no contest to child abuse charges. As a part of the plea, she’ll get 18 months in prison.
Her boyfriend was also charged with child abuse. Back in January, he was sentenced to 13 months in prison.
The children were taken to their grandfather’s house after the incident.
