Our hosts are a little whipped this morning a scant 12 hours after they wrapped their first The Marty Riemer Show Hootenanny. The mugs didn’t sell themselves, people.
Part of the Hootenanny recap involves Marty playing back one of his favorite moments. See and hear the entire Hootenanny tomorrow on the podcast.
Since we’ve got the Hootenanny covered tomorrow, we can devote today to The Halyards, a country-rock band fronted by two singer/guitarists with harmonies so tight they’ll conjure up comparisons to The Eagles or The Everly Brothers.

These guys have immense talent. Carl Funk is one of the best song crafters around. You gotta see thes guys live. Pure Raw Talent!
Carl and Larry, known them since the 60′s , Carl’s older brother Mark and Larry’s older brother Stuart as well, when you are from Oak Harbor, well, you are family…..Marty, you mentioned a Bass-est by the name of Terry Morgan, early on in another credit, if he is a black guy with 9 1/2 fingers and a serious hairdo, then he is another Oak Harborite that Larry and Carl would know as well….they might know his little brother Kevin too. We all up on The Rock are tickled for these guys, they are living their passion and dream, along with Eric as well !! Thanks for featuring these guys, it allowed me to see them from the comfort of my own home, hope to drop in and see them in person soon !!! To hear Emma Peel on here, that was real trick.
Take care and good fortune to you all, Craig Dougherty , Kent , Washington.
So glad you had these guys on the podcast. The CD is terrific, and they play some tasty covers live. I’m sure Carl has a deep file of great songs to add to future recordings and performances, as well as many yet unwritten. If somebody had said to me, “These guys from The Allies are gonna record a CD with Eric Tingstad, who has a Grammy in the New Age genre,” I’d have replied, “What?! That would be like Robert Plant recording with Alison Krauss!”
